MHLS – matesy Hall Line Sensor

High-Precision and Large-Area Magnet Characterization

The matesy Hall Line Sensor, (MHLS) is the latest pioneering innovation from matesy GmbH Jena. The newly developed sensor is used for both the high-precision, rapid, and large-area characterization of magnetic elements and entire assemblies.

Product Description

The MHLS is extremely flexible to use thanks to its compact and robust design. The development of ever more efficient electric motors in areas such as automotive engineering and wind energy is playing an ever increasing role, where the highest precision and quality of the magnetic components used is crucial, particularly in the energy and mobility transition.

This is where the MHLS sensor comes into its own with its flexibility, speed, and accuracy. Inline quality control, test, and development facilities across all industries can now be equipped with the MHLS to ensure best possible real-time control of magnetic components during the production process.

Integration into existing systems is simple, thanks to data transfer by fieldbus. The MHLS is available in four sizes in stages 80, 160, 240, 320 and with a standard measuring range of ± 800 mT. If required, the sensor system can be configured for measurement ranges from ±100 mT to ±2 T, thus covering almost any application.

Design & Function

At the heart of the product is an array of highly integrated triple axis Hall sensors, the first to be implemented with this level of precision and complexity. All sensor triplets have a small sensor volume, therefore allowing for point-precise field and vector determination of magnetic stray fields. The sensor triplets are linearly arranged with high precision at a distance of 2.5 mm on specially designed circuit boards and interconnected to achieve high accuracy and a high measuring frequency (sampling rate)

Sensor arrangement:
0.9 mm below the housing cover, 16 to 64 high-precision Hall sensor ICs are arranged. Each sensor is equipped with its own temperature sensor and is therefore temperature compensated in addition to the magnetic field calibration.
